It seems that there are several different medications suitable for injections. What are they and what are the trade-offs?Each of these medications will work to help you achieve an erection. You should always consult your physician to discuss which is best for you. Some of the medicines currently in use include the following: o Papaverine is available at a low cost and is stable at room temperature but is less effective than the other medications and may have a higher tendency to cause scarring (fibrosis). o Papaverine plus phentolamine is more potent than papaverine alone but with the same potential side effects such as priapism and scar tissue formation. o Alprostadil rarely causes priapism but with its use pain is more common. (Alprostadil is also known as prostaglandinE-1 or PGE-1, in powdered form it may be called Caverject or Edex.) o Papaverine plus phentolamine plus Alprostadil (Trimix) is the most potent but requires refrigeration and has the same side effects as Papaverine and Alprostadil.
-
How do these medications work to produce an erection? These drugs create an erection by relaxing the smooth muscles and widening the blood vessels in the penis. They are not dependent on nerve stimulation.
-
Will they work after removal of prostate (prostatectomy)?Yes, the use of injections, which stimulate the flow of blood to the penis, may help the recovery of your natural erections.
-
Are there medical conditions that preclude the use of injections?Yes. Severe scarring of the penis. Allergy to any of the 3 medications. Active infection or sores on the penis.
-
Can I take Penile Injections if on blood thinners?Yes. Blood thinners such as aspirin and prescription medications can increase bleeding. Men may still use injection therapy when taking these medications but need to compress the injection site for at least seven minutes after.
-
How long will the erections last?Erections generally appear in 5 to 10 minutes and on average last approximately 60 minutes but can last more than one hour. This depends on several factors including: General health Medications Whether proper dosage was used Was there other sexual stimulation
-
Can injections be used with vacuum erection devices?NO. DO NOT use a vacuum erection device after injecting! Serious bleeding can result. There may be exceptions. Please consult your doctor.
-
Does my medication require refrigeration?Yes. It be left un-refrigerated for three hours. If you travel, you will need to bring an ice pack to keep the medicine effective.
-
What area on the penis do I inject? What structures am I aiming for, and which do I want to avoid?Alternate between injecting at the 2-3 and 8-9 o’clock positions. You will be injecting into the corpus cavernosum (erectile bodies). When choosing an injection site, avoid any area you see a blood vessel. Please see our tutorial video on the correct manner for injecting.
-
Do I need to apply pressure to the site after injection?Yes, it important to apply pressure to the injection site for a full five minutes after injection and massage the medicine into the penis.
-
Should I vary the injection site?Yes, changing injection sites to the opposite side of the penis is recommended.
-
What if the medicine did not work?Sometimes a dose that has worked fine before, produces no erection. You were probably in the wrong place or too deep or too shallow. Also make sure the medication has not expired or was left out in the sun or heat (lost its effectiveness).
-
Does the medication lose potency over time even if stored correctly?Yes, after about six months the medication will be less effective.
-
Will I develop a tolerance over time requiring a higher dose? This is not a common occurrence, but if it does, our medical provider may have to readjust the dosage of medication or change to a stronger version of the medicine.

Erectile dysfunction is, under most circumstances, a treatable medical condition. A man’s ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory erection declines due to various factors, such as: Age Psychological factors (including performance anxiety and loss of interest in sex) Obesity Diabetes High blood pressure Smoking Our goal is to help you have a satisfactory erection so you can focus on sex.

Severe cardiac disease.

What if my erection does not begin to go down after 3 hours (or if I want it to go down sooner)?Remember to start low and go slow. It may take a few different attempts to find your right dosage. This is a very rare side effect that usually occurs from injecting too much medication. Even though it is very rare, it is important for you to be fully educated of the solutions. If your erection doesn’t subside or becomes painful you can follow these steps: 1. Ejaculate, this usually resolves your erection. Even if you must masturbate, this would be first step. If you are unable to ejaculate move to option two below. 2. Take Sudafed (Pseudoephedrine 30mg). Take four Sudafed® (pseudoephedrine) 30mg by mouth once and apply an ice pack between your legs at 20-minute intervals. If your erection does not begin to go away within the next hour, then move to option two and inject the included antidote of Phenylephrine HCl Injection. 3. Inject Phenylephrine HCl (included in your initial order) In the extremely rare occurrence that your erection has not started to go down after ejaculation or an hour after taking four Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) tablets and applying the ice pack between your legs for 20 minutes, then you will need to administer the injectable penile antidote, Phenylephrine HCl (included in your first order). This antidote is already pre-mixed. Inject 25 units of Phenylephrine HCl 0.1% DIRECTLY into one side of your penis just like you injected the original medication (although now your penis will be fully erect). After injection, the injection site should be compressed and lightly massaged to facilitate drug distribution. If your erection does not begin to go down after 5 minutes, inject another 25 units. Repeat this process up to a maximum total of four injections of 25 units in 5-minute intervals. Do not exceed 100 units. If your erection still does not start to go down within 1 hour after the injection of Phenylephrine HCl, then take pictures of all your medications and go to the emergency room. You can review the injection process video at any time. Click below to access our educational videos.
